The usual freezer we have in home is a silent worker. It operates year in and year out, requiring nothing other than a constant supply of electricity. Eventually, though it may need to be replaced.

They base their judgment upon perceived usages rather than real usage. Their reasoning is: We “might” need a larger one in case there “may be” a special at the grocery store on something. All food has to be consumed in less then six weeks. You food is bound to be dehydrated if you store it longer that that, and no wrapping will help it. Nutritional value and the food taste will be worst as the moisture is leaving the food. Anything that is stored more then a month and a half is considered wasted .

Just remember how many times did you have to throw some food because crystals started to appear. And the ice that is appearing inside the package is a sign of dehydration.

You electricity bill will be increased, although appliances like GE freezer are an efficient electric applliances.

You will spend more electricity with a upright freezer. The reason for this are the opened doors that let the cold air out. It will have to be on more often in the future. Also today’s uprights are often frost free, which by their nature consume much more electricity. This is why we have to pay more for that small defrosting service.

Chest freezers are more efficient consumers of electricity because the cold air lies inside even though the lid is lifted to access the contents. But chest freezers are manual and they need to defrosted at least once per year.

Most freezers are not somewhere where they can be seen so they do not have to look attractive. Neither do most consumers feel a necessity for them to have many options.
They are regarded as just simple metal boxes that we need to store our content in.

But there are more brands that offer a lot of options when it comes to chest freezers. There are a lot of features you can find in freezers made today; quick freeze, push button control, frost free and digital temperature display.
